Without knowing more about history and culture of the past (a.K.A. Anthropology), it's hard to know what would be considered normal or weird for people from that place and time. If you had to bet money, what would you say is "normal" in Romeo & Juliet? What's weird? Keep in mind, we're not talking about you and what YOU think is normal or weird, we're talking about for people who lived in that time and place. 50-word minimum.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer and Explanation:

If this is an assumption, I would say that the "normal" things in the society in which Romeo and Julieta lived were: teenage marriages (since life expectancy was low), marriage between members of the same family (to keep wealth in the family). family and family purity), the control of society by members of the royal family, a strong religiosity among people.

Likewise, I suppose that within this society it was unusual: mortal enemies among families, sword fights in the middle of the street, priests encouraging young people to flee and marry in secret, drugs that simulate death, young people disobeying their families to get married, priests allowing a girl to pretend she died, intruders at family parties and people killing themselves because they lost the person they love.

Describe in about 30-40 wordsthe peculiarities of the diary in the lesson?

Answers

Answer:

Katniss’s first reaction when she hears the news about the rule change is to call out Peeta’s name, despite the dangers of alerting the tributes to her presence. Our first reactions are usually are truest; so how does Katniss really feel about Peeta? Is it true that she thinks she must seek him out because no one in district 12 would forgive her? Or is there more to it?

Answers

Answer:

Katniss has said in both The Hunger Games and Catching Fire that she does not know how she feels for him. So there is the evidence for that, and, in other times during Catching Fire, she has deeply wanted Peeta to lay with her at night. Majority, almost all of the time, it was for comfort from her nightmares. But, also, sort of near the end in Catching Fire, in the Hunger Games with the victors, Peeta had massaged a tense spot in her shoulders, and she relaxed. There is many areas in the first two books that shows she does truly love Peeta, but there are also other times that she shows she would rather be with Gale. But, I have seen much more of her loving Peeta rather then Gale. She admitted in book one not all of the love for Peeta was fake. I think that is evidence as to why I think there is more to it then her wanting to seek him out for District twelves forgiveness.

The Reunion
Kathy Hufford
1 David was really looking forward to summer vacation this year. He didn't mind working hard in school but he was impatient for summer vacation
because he would get to see his Midwest cousins this summer. That's what he called his cousins from Kansas and Missouri. Since David and his
family lived near the gulf coast, the Midwest cousins traveled south for a family reunion on the beach every other year.
2 The crowd was going to be bigger than usual this year. Grandma told David they were expecting over 50 aunts, uncles and cousins for the week at
the beach. Some of his dad's cousins had gotten married or had new babies since he saw them two years ago.
3 David wasn't sure there would be anyone close to his age at the reunion this year. David had always enjoyed tagging along with the older boys
while swimming or playing ball on the beach. Now that he was almost twelve, some of the older cousins were finishing college. Some cousins were
getting married. David wondered if they would still want to hang out with him. Would they be acting like the rest of the grown ups now?
4 David decided that maybe it was his turn to introduce the younger ones to games on the beach. He reminded himself that's how family traditions
are carried on. No matter what, David knew that the reunion would be fun and he looked forward to seeing family members both old and new

Read the statement below, then decide whether you agree or disagree with it. Be prepared to support your opinion with details from the story. Here's your discussion, the us of foreshadowing in "The Monkeys Paw" is so obvious that gives the events away before they happen

Answers

Answer:

I do not agree with the statement shown above.

Explanation:

You should already know that foreshadowing is a literary resource that allows the author to forward information about events that will happen later in history. This is done to leave the student instigated and anxious for the facts that compose the narrative to unfold.

It is correct to say that in "The Monkeys Paw" we have a strong use of foreshadowing, mainly through the dark mood that announces that the story will not have a happy ending, but a sad, melancholy one, which will convey the feeling of loss and hopelessness. However, foreshadowing is not so strong as to reveal the events that will happen in history, that is, we know that they will be sad events, but we do not know what events will be and what will happen to them.

The "new woman" was a feminist ideal in the Victorian age. This term described women who fought against the rigid conventional roles imposed on women at the time. In what way is this ideal represented in the character of Mina Murray in Dracula?
A. She is motherly in her affection to all those she knows.
B. She wants to be able to help her husband.
C. She is educated and financially independent.
D. She needs men to protect her from Count Dracula.
E. She doesn’t turn into a vampire after being bitten.

Answers

Answer: C. She is educated and financially independent.

Explanation:

Mina Murray in Dracula embodied the changing thought that the feminists of the Victorian age were pushing. They spoke of women who did not have to rely on men and so were able to throw off the conventional roles imposed on them by society.

Mina Murray was a schoolteacher before she was married and as such was educated and financially independent which meant that she did not have to rely on a man for her needs thus making her a "new woman".

Records show that 70 percent of tardy high school students show up before the end of first period. Some residents believe that this is due to early morning doctor appointments, but only eight percent of those students had medical excuses. They are simply sleeping in. Additionally, parents of younger children complain that they have to wait until 8:45 to see their kids off to elementary school.

2-3 page essay about racism in the 1960s

Answers

Answer:

The 1960s were a time where the world was changing. Music was changing, politics were changing, and people were changing. But one problem seemed to remain in society Racism. Although the 1960s were the era of the Baby Boom, the racist segregation did not subside. Although segregation thrived through Jim Crow Laws, Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X both fought hard against it. This segregation lead to possibly the world’s greatest achievement, the African-American Civil Rights Movement. In the 1960s, the way of life was different for people with different colors of skin. There were separate bathrooms, separate restaurants, drinking fountains, and churches for black people. Restaurants had a Jim Crow law, that stated,

“It shall be unlawful to conduct a restaurant or other place for the serving of food in the city, at which white and colored people are served in the same room, unless such white and colored persons are effectively separated by a solid partition extending from the floor upward to a distance of seven feet or higher, and unless a separate entrance from the street is provided for each compartment. “

Black people were also forced to use different barbers, nurses and jail cells. The segregation between black people and white people was evident and enforced by law. These laws were called Jim Crow Laws, and were local laws that outlined the segregation between black people and white people. Any act against a Jim Crow law was punishable by law and received an unusually hefty punishment. These ‘separate but equal’ approaches lead to much discrimination that African-American communities endured for much of the decade. These laws covered aspects such as barbers, prisons, nurses, and libraries. Some examples of Jim Crow laws were:

1. No colored barber shall serve as a barber (to) white girls or women (Georgia).

2. No person or corporation shall require any White female nurse to nurse in wards or rooms in hospitals, either public or private, in which Negro men are placed (Alabama).

3. The warden shall see that the white convicts shall have separate apartments for both eating and sleeping from the Negro convicts (Mississippi).

Although these laws were all forced by law, they were all forced by the public as well. Many mobs of white men used lynching in the 1960s to try and manipulate the African-American population. Lynching is considered the punishment of any person without legal process or authority. Any person who tried to promote against, abolish, or defy the Jim Crow laws were often beaten and/or killed. With the help of Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights movement, these laws were only in effect up until 1965. In 1968 the Supreme Court declared all types of segregation ‘unconstitutional’.Martin Luther King Jr. was an integral part of the abolishment of Jim Crow Laws and the public support of the Civil Rights Movement. Growing up as a child, Martin Luther King Jr. was a very smart human being. He attended segregated high schools in Georgia but only stayed for a short amount of time. Because of Martins superb intelligence, he was able to finish grades 9-12 in just two years, making him a high school graduate at the age of fifteen. After receiving a doctorate at Boston University, Martin had already started his effect on society. He participated in a 382 day boycott to remove the segregation between black and white people on buses. The supreme court agreed and on December 21, 1956, the law was ruled unconstitutional. Martin Luther King paid the price for this great achievement, finding himself arrested and his home was bombed. The African-American Civil Rights Movement took place in the 1960s and really gained support on August 28th, 1963. Martin Luther King Jr. made his plea to the world for racial equality during his “I Have a Dream speech. This speech was a powerful moment in history and held the support of people all over the planet. “I have a dream is still regarded as one of the greatest political statements ever to be made.
