prompt: which is more important, a person's freedom or a person's safety?
pls help me write my essay :')

Answers

Answer:

Here’s something to consider: does safety outweight freedom? According to H.L.

Menchen, “The average man does not want to be free. He simply wants to be safe.” Safety does,

in fact, outweigh freedom because there is more of a sense of security in safety that in freedom.

Although some people might think that freedom is more important than safety, in reality, it is the

other way around with safety winning the battle of importance. Safety gives people a good sense

of security and makes them feel like they are doing the right thing in life.

One example that safety gives people a sense of security is being able to keep a job. Since

the economy dropped in 2008, many people have been worrying about the necessities in life.

They wonder if they will keep their jobs, if they’re going to be able to pay the bills, and if they

will be able to provide for their families and for themselves. A good number of people have been

laid off since the recession. For instance, Toyota has laid off numerous people who work the

assembly line. This leads to the employees worrying if their job is safe and most important, if

they themselves are safe.

Another example of security found in safety lies in the theory called Maslow’s Hierarchy

of Needs. This is a diagram of a triangle that describes what the basic needs are for people

according to Maslow. At the bottom of this triangle lies security and safety. It is at the bottom

because it is the most important need and is the first step to achieve total happiness in life. While

at the top there are selfless behaviors, it is the last need. However, to accomplish this you need to

start at the bottom and work up from there. It all starts with the most important needs of safety

and security.

While safety is a great thing, others feel like freedom is the ultimate goal to achieve. For

example, during the time period where African Americans were slaves, freedom was the most

important thing in life. Many slaves risked their lives to escape the hellhole where they worked.

It wasn’t until Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation that African Americans

were free. Nevertheless, while African Americans might have been freed, they still had to worry

about their safety as they were heavily discriminated against and still weren’t treated equally.

In conclusion, safety provides people with a sense of security when freedom cannot. It is

the biggest and most important need people need to strive for in life. Without safety, there can be

no peace of mind and ultimately no complete happiness.

what does rifkins style and language tell you about him?

Answers

Answer:

(Rifkin, 7). His style in this is relatively simple, he makes a point, and backs it up with evidence immediately to solidify his claim without providing to much in the way of personal rhetoric. This allows the reader to accept his point of view without having to yet acknowledge any strong counter-claims.

Explanation:

Answer:

I can usually say that the author's style can tell the reader how personal or how connected the author is with the writing itself. If the writing uses more vivid imagery and detail, you can tell that the author recalls perfectly or has an expansive and creative mind.

Some times, when authors use vague words or general imagery, they may be leaving it up for interpretation, mysteriousness, or the author wants to focus on different detail.

There's methaphors, allusion, symbolism, and more to watch for.

Answer:

the way each text describes the subject.

Explanation:

this is the correct option because if we choose A , the length and complexity of the lines in each text would not explain the subjects he wants to compares. If we choose C it would be wrong again because kinds of words the author uses in each text depends on the situation. it can both be positive and negative. And if we choose D the attitude describes the scenario and the part of the subject not the subject itself. The best option is B because it explains the subjects which are to be compared.

The fact that the subject of the poems are compared by their structures, attention should be paid to B. the way each text describes the subject.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson Part 1 Mr. Utterson the lawyer was a man of a rugged countenance, that was never lighted by a smile; cold, scanty and embarrassed in discourse; backward in sentiment; lean, long, dusty, dreary, and yet somehow lovable. At friendly meetings, and when the wine was to his taste, something eminently human beaconed from his eye; something indeed which never found its way into his talk, but which spoke not only in these silent symbols of the after-dinner face, but more often and loudly in the acts of his life. He was austere with himself; drank gin when he was alone, to mortify a taste for vintages; and though he enjoyed the theatre, had not crossed the doors of one for twenty years. But he had an approved tolerance for others; sometimes wondering, almost with envy, at the high pressure of spirits involved in their misdeeds; and in any extremity inclined to help rather than to reprove. "I incline to, Cain's heresy*," he used to say. "I let my brother go to the devil in his quaintly 'own way. " In this character, it was frequently his fortune to be the last reputable acquaintance and the last good influence in the lives of down-going men. And to such as these, so long as they came about his chambers, he never marked a shade of change in his demeanour. No doubt the feat was easy to Mr. Utterson; for he was undemonstrative at the best, and even his friendship seemed to be founded in a similar catholicity of good-nature. It is the mark of a modest man to accept his friendly circle ready-made from the hands of opportunity; and that was the lawyer's way. His friends were those of his own blood or those whom he had known the longest; his affections, like ivy, were the growth of time, they implied no aptness in the object. Hence, no doubt, the bond that united him to Mr. Richard Enfield, his distant kinsman, the well-known man about town.
