The diagram below shows a cell going through a certain phase of mitosis.
Which of the following best describes what happens during the phase of mitosis shown in the diagram?
Choose 1 answer:

Answers

Answer:

(Option A) Nuclear membranes begin to form around the cell’s genetic material.

Explanation:

In the given image, it can be predicted that the nuclear envelop reappears around the cell's genetic material. The correct option is A.

What is mitosis?

Mitosis is the process whereby a cell replicates and then separates its chromosomes, creates two identical nuclei in prep work for cell division.

Mitosis is commonly accompanied by the equal division of the cell's contents into two daughter cells with identical genomes.

Mitosis occurs in the following stages:

The chromosomes shorten and thicken during prophase. Metaphase - Chromosomes align in the center of the cell. Chromatids separate at the centromere and move to opposite poles during anaphase. Telophase - The formation of two nuclei after nuclear envelopes reform around each chromosome group.

The image is showing telophase of the cell division mitosis, which is indicating that the nuclear envelop is being formed around the genetic material of the cell.

Thus, the correct option is A.
