Haiku Poetry

It's time to write your own haiku.

HINTS:

* You can write about a traditional subject or a more modern one.

* If you are struggling to come up with something to write, look around you. Write about an ordinary object that you see every day, but describe it with as much sensory and figurative language as you can.

* Choose only the most descriptive, interesting, precise words to include in your haiku.

* It is a good idea to leave out any article (a, an, the), unless they are absolutely necessary to your haiku.

* The syllable pattern is as follows: lines one and three have five syllables each; line two has seven syllables.

Today was an experience I’m supper glad I could have. It started out with my family and I waking up at five in the morning to get to the airport. I hardly slept the night before because I was excited to be going in an airplane the first time. Once we got to the airport, I could see how big the planes were but once inside they don’t look too big. The flight had a lot of turbulence and my mom was getting nervous. Although I really enjoyed it, I just imagined it as a roller-coaster. Once we were about to land, I look out the window and I could see all the clouds it was amazing I could imagine touching them and seeing how soft they were. After that We went inside the clouds it was super foggy but cool. Once we got out of the clouds, I could see the city it was big! And seeing it from above it was pretty

Answers

Answer:

Today was quite the experience. I'm feel very euphoric about having to go through with it. My family and I woke up at five in the morning to leave for the airport, the start to my great adventure! I had hardly slept the night before due to all the excitement I was feeling about flying in an airplane for the first time. Once we had got to the airport, I could see all the big airplanes and how amazing they looked up close. But the excitement of the big planes had died down when we got into the actual thing, to put it bluntly, it wasn't as cool as I had hoped. On the ride to our destination, there was a lot of turbulence and my mother had begun to grow nervous. I wasn't very aware of this thought because I was enjoying the roller-coaster of a ride. As the plane was getting closer to landing, I looked out the window to see all the majestic clouds rolling by below us, I thought it was amazing! I imagined reaching out to touch them, feeling how soft they were. When the plane had flown into the clouds, it was all foggy, a interesting experience. As we exited the cloudy part of the ride, I could see the huge city! It was an impowering feeling and so beautiful to see it from above. I'm extremely happy to have gone on this tip and hope to feel this way again fairly soon!

I talked to John yesterday; we_____ visit you tomorrow. 8. I am sorry dad; I____ drink and drive again. 9. Watch out! That man____ punch you. 10. It is really hot in here; I___ the window.

Answers

Answer:

1. Next summer I am going to buy a new house.

2. I am quite tired; I will  go to bed now.

3. I believe Laura will like her brand new car.

4. Look at those guys! They  are going to rob the bank.

5. I promise, I won't do it again.

6. I think she will crash my dad's car.

7. I talked to John yesterday; we are going to visit you tomorrow.

8. I am sorry dad; I won't drink and drive again.

9. Watch out! That man is going to punch you.

10. It is really hot in here; I will open the window.

Explanation:

We use the future simple with -will-, to talk about predictions, where we do not know if an event or action is going to happen since there is no evidence to confirm it. Another use of will is to make promises, like in sentence number 5 ( I promise, I won't do it again.) and lastly to talk about decisions made at the moment like in sentence number 2 or 10 where the person decided at that moment what to do.

We use going to talk about arrange plans for the future, like in sentence number 1 or 7 where there is a plan to buy a house in the future or to visit someone on an exact date. The other use of going to is to talk about an action or event that is going to happen in the future and that there is evidence to confirm it. Like in sentence number 4, where the people saw the thieves, or in number 9, where the other person was moving the arm to punch him, this is evidence that an event is going to happen.

How is writing a blog different from academic writing? Select three answer options. A blog is written in third-person point of view. A blog can include informal language. A blog uses formal language and structure. A blog can be written in first-person point of view. A blog is written with an objective viewpoint. A blog includes personal and emotional details.

Answers

Answer:

A blog can be written in first-person point of view.

A blog includes personal and emotional details.

Explanation:

Academic writing is a paper where the writer or author presents his/her research papers based on using sources and knowledge about the thesis topic. A blog, on the other hand, is a writing form where the author has the right to write upon any topic without the need to restrain oneself within any limitations.

Writing a blog is different from academic writing as it allows the writer to use the first-person point of view. It also allows the use of informal language, slang, or any language that conveys the message. It also can include the personal and emotional details of the writer, something which is not found in an academic paper.

Thus, the correct answers are the second, fourth, and sixth options.

A blog is an online platform where we go to receive information that is neither too informal nor too formal. The difference between blog writing and academic writing are;

A blog can include informal language. A blog can be written in first-person point of view. A blog includes personal and emotional details.

Academic writing is a very formal style of writing where only facts are presented.

A blog is most times meant for entertainment. Its content could be informal. It uses the first-person point of view. Words such as I, Myself, We, etc., are used.

It is also subjective as the emotions of the author can be reflected in the text. Therefore, options B, D, and F are correct.
