What was the Indian Removal Act?The Indian Removal Act was signed in 1830 under the Presidency of Andrew Jackson. It allowed for Native Indians to be forcibly removed from their ancestral lands and relocated to other lands so that their lands could be used by states and the White Americans there.
Several tribes were affected including members of the "Five Nations" including the Chickasaw, the Creek, and the Cherokee. The Comanche were not as affected however.
