Miranda sat in the high school computer lab typing like mad. It was 8:30 a.m., and her 1,000-word report on The Catcher in the Rye was due at 9:00. For the past hour, she had been flipping through the ratty pages of the old paperback trying to discern the major plot points and then typing out a few sentences that she hoped were logical. The only reason she was able to get into the lab that early was because she was one of Mrs. Brody’s assistants, but a couple of hours in the lab didn’t make up for weeks of zoning out in English class.

Miranda could kick herself, but she was too busy skimming through her notes and attempting to remember something—anything!—that Mr. Giuffreda had talked about. Mr. Giuffreda was a tough grader, and Miranda did not work well under pressure—not a great combination. On top of all that, Miranda could hear her mother’s voice in her head: “One more bad grade in English, young lady, and no more soccer team.” Miranda failed to see the relationship between soccer and book reports, but she also knew her mother wasn’t kidding. When she had slacked off in geometry last semester, her mother had taken away her cell phone for a month. Another time, when Miranda had missed her curfew—again and again—she had gotten grounded for two weeks.

Still typing, Miranda thought about Mr. Giuffreda. He expected nothing but the best—and then some. He never gave extensions unless someone had a family emergency, and he had a terrible habit of brushing off even the most creative excuses. Anyway, Miranda didn’t need an extra day or two. She needed time to read the entire novel again. Miranda ran a word count—361. She checked her watch—8:45. She flipped to the end of the book trying desperately to remember the ending, but nothing was coming to her. Why hadn’t she paid attention?

At 8:55, she had a whopping, miraculous 402 words. The homeroom bell had rung five minutes ago, and students were filing into the lab for first period. Miranda’s fingers were still flying, but by 8:59, Mrs. Brody asked Miranda to leave so she could start class on time. Miranda saved her work on her USB drive, collected her pages from the printer, and slung her knapsack over her shoulder. Then she trudged down the hall to Mr. Giuffreda’s class as slowly as possible, even though she knew she would be late and would probably get detention.

Based on the passage, what will Miranda’s mother probably do?
A.
ground Miranda for the next two weeks
B.
find someone to tutor Miranda in English
C.
understand that Miranda tried her best
D.
force Miranda to quit the soccer team

What is the story called??? But I would say D or A

To create interest in the reader in hearing about Silvio escape from death does the author choose to end this passage in this way. Hence, option D is correct.

How do get Silvio to escape?

Scare him so hard that he runs away. Don't turn on the fan; instead, take the necessary steps to cause him to pass out. So turn on the service bell, chair lift, and gramophone. He'll become frightened and flee.

Isabella Caruso was a former free-spirited professor who hailed from a family of country nobles. She eventually got married to a political essayist and they had three sons: Silvio Caruso, Renzo and Orlando, who are twins, and Renzo and Orlando.

The golf ball should be placed in the bucket with the other golf balls on the grass. At some point, Caruso will decide to simulate a golf stroke and blow himself up with the ball.

I would occasionally have to look into the camera but not too much because it would look like everything was word for word and there was bad acting. There was huge screens everywhere, a massive crew holding up cameras and microphones. The whole thing was staged with a script to use as a guide while we were on the show and seemed like a long interview that was broadcasted across a huge streaming service.

Marketing to youth

Under-aged marketing is a cheap tactic to get kids to ask their parents either for money or for products regarding the advertisement they previously saw.

For the rest of these paragraphs let me get something clear when I use the words "kid" or "children," I am referring to any individual under the age of thirteen. I recognize this may be prejudice but it is generally considered that after the age of thirteen you are no longer a child; instead, a youth or a teenager.

The reasons I have boldly claimed that "under-aged marketing is a cheap tactic," is quite apparent and obvious when you put this under the imaginary common-sense microscope; let me elaborate. I will state the main points and then we can more closely examine them under this microscope

My statements:

"Kids don't have enough life experience to determine whether an ad or promotion is misleading."

"Kids generally do not have much disposable income, or income to speak of"

"Kids are used as a middle ground between marketing teams and their parent's money"

So, let's break this down; the first statement, what this is trying to mean is that kids have, unlike adults, not had enough life experience to determine whether a product is trustworthy. From prior experience most adults should be able to tell if a product is trustworthy, if the product is of enough quality, and even chose between products; consider diminishing returns (the concept that after a certain price products do not get better.) Kids lack this skill because they have simply not had enough life experience. Obviously, there can be exceptions to this, kids can have had enough experience, and there are adults that may not have enough experience to decern with this judgment; but to make it simple it is more or less universally accepted that people over the age of thirteen may already possess most or at least a bit of this judgment.

The second statement, this statement refers to how for many reasons, child labor laws included, children even over the age of thirteen may not be able to have a job. What this means is that children do not have a steady income of their own.

The second statement and the third statement fall under the same category and have the same finality; getting to the parents' wallet. This is usually the most controversial part of a subject like this, in the end, all that the marketing teams want is their money, they don't care how they get. If kids don't have money where can they get it from, the answer to that question is their parents.

So, in all this what the marketing teams are doing is getting to the parent's wallets. In doing so they are using their kids as a medium, if you will get to whom the ads were initially intended to get money from the parents.

All of this happens because children cannot differentiate between products. Saving the explanation from paragraph four, children do not have sufficient life experience for this, making them rely on their parents or other people, and use their parent’s money to buy them the product.

Some people might argue that all this just gives children more say in everything and allows them to see more of their choices. While to a certain extent this may be correct, yet again, children cannot properly and sufficiently decide for themselves what is best. Let me give a simple unconventional example. Little jimmy is innocently on the computer, watching his toy unboxing videos; when suddenly a mid-roll ad (advertisement in the middle of a video) starts to play. Jimmy is four years old and knows how to press the skip ad button but is suddenly entranced by an ad about cereal. This cereal claims to be the best serial in town, and that it tastes amazing. Little Jimmy had never heard about this brand but because the brand spent millions of dollars promoting it on various sites, it got to little jimmy who wanted nothing to do with cereal, to begin with. Little Jimmy thinks nothing of it, but it has not been forgotten. Next time little Jimmy goes to the supermarket with his dad, Big jimmy, for comedic effect. Big Jimmy and little Jimmy finally arrive at the cereal aisle, and little Jimmy recalls to his dad the ad he saw, claiming, “I WANT THAT CEREAL;” at this point, the ad has done its job. It got big Jimmy to buy his son the box of cereal that cost ten times as much just because it had a mascot and a catchy name; the cereal didn’t even taste that good, but they bought it. That my friend is how advertisements work, kids do not ponder upon such egregious things.

So, after this long-winded real-world example, it just goes to show you that people that think advertisements will broaden children’s spectrum and opinions on various products, it does not; whatsoever. It just makes the company more money; because more people buy.

In conclusion, children do not have enough real-world prowess to adequately choose for themselves (with some exceptions) what product is better, they will go directly to the one most advertised.

Incomplete question. However, I assumed you are referring to the story, "Fahrenheit" 451 by  Ray Bradbury.

Explanation:

For example, in the novel, the character Clarisse is portrayed as someone who appreciates nature, so much so that she finds time always to observe creation even though most people in her community are preoccupied with work and entertainment that they lack the time to do so.

Another character is Mildred, the wife of Montag, she is portrayed as someone who has a love for entertainment that is so strong to the extent it overshadows that of her husband. Her behavior contrast with that of Clarisse who has a healthy view of entertainment.

What the author, Montag is saying through his characters is that

those in his society do not value human life, recall we were told the police don't punish those who over speed, thus accidents occur often. those in his society are less concerned about their families; which was made evident in the case of Mildred.

Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the
proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are
met here on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of it as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that
that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate-we cannot consecrate—we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who
struggled, here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here,
but can never forget what they did here. It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they have, thus far, so nobly
carried on. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us--that from these honored dead we take increased devotion
to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion-that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain;
that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Desdemona tells her father that although she loves him, her duty is now to Othello. At what point does a person's obligation move from their parents to their significant other? Is it possible to be obligated to parents and a significant other? If yes, what potential problems may arise? If no, what potential problems may arise?

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

1. The point of obligation of a person passes from the country to another individual when there is greater responsibility than that other individual requires. As shown in the question above, Desdemona had a strong obligation to care for and support her husband, as she lived in a time when women were "properties" of their husbands and were to devote themselves completely to them.

2. It is possible to have an obligation to parents and to another individual, as long as the person who has this obligation is able to organize well and get help, because having obligations to someone is a very big burden and the more people who have this obligation, the greater the burden.

3. The problems that can be generated from this is the overload of people who have obligations to many other people. In this case, to avoid these problems it is necessary to define priorities and delegate the obligations to those involved.

what is the author's main purpose in writing this article? “DO JUVENILE KILLERS DESERVE LIFE BEHIND BARS?” by Nina Totenberg

Answers

Answer:

In this article, Totenberg discusses whether life in prison is too harsh a punishment for juvenile killers. He is pretty much asking if life in prison is to bad for criminals.

Explanation:

:D

The article "DO JUVENILE KILLERS DESERVE LIFE BEHIND BARS?" by Nina Totenberg explores the issue of whether or not juveniles who commit murder should be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

What is the opening of the article ?

The article opens with a brief description of the case of Lee Boyd Malvo, who was convicted of murder as a teenager and is currently serving a life sentence in prison. The author then goes on to discuss a recent Supreme Court case that addressed the issue of sentencing juveniles to life without parole, as well as several other court cases and research studies.

The article presents arguments from both sides of the debate. Those who argue for more lenient sentencing for juvenile killers point out that teenagers' brains are not fully developed and that they may be more susceptible to peer pressure and other outside influences.

They also argue that teenagers have a greater capacity for rehabilitation than adult offenders, and that it is therefore unfair to sentence them to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On the other hand, those who argue for holding juvenile killers fully accountable for their crimes argue that murder is a serious crime that should be punished accordingly, regardless of the offender's age. They also point out that some juvenile offenders are capable of committing heinous crimes and may pose a danger to society if they are released from prison.

Throughout the article, the author presents information and arguments in a balanced and objective manner. She cites court cases, research studies, and other sources of information to support her points, and she presents both sides of the debate in a fair and even-handed way.

Ultimately, the purpose of the article is to inform readers about the complex legal and ethical issues surrounding the sentencing of juvenile killers, and to encourage further discussion and debate on the topic.
