In isosceles triangle ABC, AC=BC=20, the measure of angle A=68, and CD is the altitude to side AB. What is CD to the nearest 10th

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Comment

The way the diagram looks when it is drawn is that you are going to need the sine function to solve for the side opposite which is CD.

Formula

Sin(A) = Sin(68 = opposite / hypotenuse     Substitute values.

Solution

sin(68) = altitude (side opposite) / 20       multiply both sides by 20

20*sin(68) = 20* altitude / 20                     substitute for sin(68)

20* 0.9272 = altitude

altitude = 18.5

The middle term of the expansion of (√x + √y)⁸ is; B: 70 * x² * y²

How to solve binomial theorems?

We want to expand the expression;

(√x + √y)⁸

Now, according to binomial expansion, we know that;

(x + y)ⁿ = ⁿC₀ xⁿ y⁰ + ⁿC₁ xⁿ ⁻ ¹ y¹ + ⁿC₂ xⁿ ⁻ ² y² + ..... + ⁿCₙ x⁰ yⁿ.

Now, for an 8 power binomial, the coefficient of each term from formula are respectively;

1      8      28      56      70     56     28    8      1

The mid term is the fifth term and so, we have;

If the present value of an item is P
and we experience an inflation rate
of r for t years, what will the future
value of the item be?
P = $100
r = 4%
t = 15

Answers

inflation means, the same item costs more however is the same item, so if a tomato in January 1st costs $1 and by December 31st it costs $2, the price went up by twice, however is same tomato, it didn't become twice as large, anyhow, inflation eats away value and thus is a Decay case.

[tex]\qquad \textit{Amount for Exponential Decay} \\\\ A=P(1 - r)^t\qquad \begin{cases} A=\textit{current amount}\\ P=\textit{initial amount}\dotfill &100\\ r=rate\to 4\%\to \frac{4}{100}\dotfill &0.04\\ t=\textit{elapsed time}\dotfill &15\\ \end{cases} \\\\\\ A=100(1 - 0.04)^{15}\implies A=100(0.96)^{15}\implies A\approx 54.21[/tex]

now, we can look at this value reduction as value that was eaten away from the original.

we can also see the inflationary effect as the new value of the tomato in money terms, that means the tomato went up in price, exponentially by 4% per year, so we can see that as a Growth case in terms of money spent on it.

[tex]\qquad \textit{Amount for Exponential Growth} \\\\ A=P(1 + r)^t\qquad \begin{cases} A=\textit{accumulated amount}\\ P=\textit{initial amount}\dotfill &100\\ r=rate\to 4\%\to \frac{4}{100}\dotfill &0.04\\ t=\textit{elapsed time}\dotfill &15\\ \end{cases} \\\\\\ A = 100(1 + 0.04)^{15} \implies A \approx 180.09[/tex]

now, this is how much the tomato will be priced in money terms in 15 years.

Triangle ABC is defined by the points A(2,9), B(8,4), and ((-3,-2).
Complete the following equation for a line passing through point C and perpendicular AB.

Answers

The equation of the line is 5y = 6x + 8 which passes through point C and perpendicular AB.

What is the slope?

The ratio that y increase as x increases is the slope of a line. The slope of a line reflects how steep it is, but how much y increases as x increases. Anywhere on the line, the slope stays unchanged (the same).

[tex]\rm m =\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

We have a triangle ABC is defined by the points A(2,9), B(8,4), and C(-3,-2).

The slope of the segment AB:

[tex]\rm m =\dfrac{4-9}{8-2}[/tex]

m = -5/6

The slope of the line perpendicular to AB:

Let M is the slope of the line:

mM = -1

(-5/6)M = -1

M = 6/5

The line:

y = Mx + c

y = (6/5)x + c

The line passing through the point C(-3, -2)

-2 = (6/5)(-3) + c

c = 8/5

y = (6/5)x + 8/5

5y = 6x + 8

Thus, the equation of the line is 5y = 6x + 8 which passes through point C and perpendicular AB.

[tex]m_{\overline{AB}}=\frac{2-5}{4-7}=-1\\m_{\overline{BC}}=\frac{2-2}{9-4}=0[/tex]

The probability that the dart lands inside the square but not on the circular dartboard is 22% option first is correct.

What is probability?

It is defined as the ratio of the number of favourable outcomes to the total number of outcomes, in other words, the probability is the number that shows the happening of the event.

We have:

A dartboard consists of a circle inscribed in a square.

The area of the square is 64 square inches.

We know the area of the square:

A = a²

a is the side of the square.

64 = a²

a = 8 inches

As the circle inscribed in a square.

The diameter will be 8 inches

The radius of the circle r = 8/2 = 4 inches

Area of the circle = πr² = π(4)² = 16×3.14 = 50.24 inches

P(dart will land on circular dartboard) = 50.24/64 = 0.785

P(dart will not land on circular dartboard) = 1 - 0.785 = 0.215

or

P(dart will not land on circular dartboard) = 21.5% ≈ 22%

Thus, the probability that the dart lands inside the square but not on the circular dartboard is 22% option first is correct.

A cylinder is a three-dimensional structure formed by two parallel circular bases. The lateral and the total surface area of the cylinder are 113.1 yd² and 169.7 yd².

What is a cylinder?

A cylinder is a three-dimensional structure formed by two parallel circular bases connected by a curving surface. The circular bases' centers overlap each other to form a right cylinder.

Lateral area of the cylinder = Area of the curved surface

                                             = 2πR × H

                                             = 2 × π × 3yd × 6yd

                                             = 36π yd²

                                             = 113.0973 yd² ≈ 113.1 yd²

The total surface area of the cylinder

         = Area of the two bases + Area of the curved surface

         = 2(π × 3²) + 113.0973 yd²

         = 56.54866 yd² + 113.0973 yd²

         = 169.6459 yd² ≈ 169.7yd²

Hence, the lateral and the total surface area of the cylinder are 113.1 yd² and 169.7 yd².

One beautiful summer day Rosa's mother said to her: "Put on your Sunday frock, Rosa, and take these eggs to your grandmother. You may stay to tea, and play a little; but you must be back by seven o'clock." This pleased Rosa, for she was not often sent alone to her grandmother's, although she lived quite near. Soon she was ready. She looked very smart in her scarlet petticoat, bright apron, and white blouse, and started off proudly with her little basket of eggs. Her grandmother was a beautiful old lady with gold spectacles and enormous white cap. She thanked Rosa for the eggs, gave her delicious tea with strawberries, cream, and cakes, and then said, "You can play in the garden until the bell rings. Only do not go near the river." The woodmen cut the trees down, mark them, and let them float where they will, and the owners claim the logs when they reach the Baltic. Rosa and her brother Rolf used to jump on these trees sometimes when they struck near the shore, float down the stream a little way, and then jump off again. It was always a dangerous game for children to play, but much more dangerous on the large river than on the little tributary. help me 12. Item 8Read the passage.Space Junk!Imagine small pieces of debris hurtling through space at up to 22,300 miles per hourfaster than a speeding bullet. Next, envision those pieces of debris colliding with each other, explosively creating even more smashed bits, as they continue zooming through space. Now, try to imagine a cloud of this debris encircling our planet.You have just created a picture of space junk.Space junk is a term used to describe the different bits and pieces of debris that orbit earth and other planets at mind-boggling speeds.What is this junk, and how did it end up in outer space?This junk is actually debris from objects sent into space. It includes everything from parts of space shuttles to satellites. Pieces from rocket launchers, bits of metal fallen off of satellites, nuts and bolts, and even chips of paint are all considered space junk. The Space Surveillance Network, a group that keeps track of the debris, has seen garbage bags, lens caps, and even a spatula!Currently, there are around 900,000 pieces of debris between 1 centimeter and 10 centimeters in length orbiting in our space system, and this number is growing. The pieces vary in size from softball-sized to those the size of marbles, or even smaller. Additionally, there are millions of debris pieces too small to measure.But isnt space HUGE? Isnt there enough room for these little bits of junk to pass each other?Although space is extremely vast, most of the junk that is worrisome is orbiting earth. It is estimated that there are about 22,300 bits of trash the size of golf balls, in addition to half a million smaller pieces whizzing around earth in the low earth orbit. This means that the junk is within 1,250 miles of earths surface. Sharing this space are active satellites, so there is growing concern about how to keep the satellites from being hit by the debris. There have been a few incidents where this has already happened. For example, in 1996, some debris from a French rocket damaged a French satellite. Surprisingly, the rocket had been launched ten years previously! In 2009, a non-operational Russian satellite smashed into an American satellite. This collision added another 2,000 pieces of junk to the growing pile of space debris.Scientists have labored for years to try to protect both active satellites and the International Space Station (ISS), a space laboratory run by astronauts from different nations. To protect the ISS, scientists have developed the capability to maneuver the station out of harms way. There are also emergency plans in place to protect the astronauts working at the ISS. These plans would isolate the crew to another part of the station to keep them safe in the event of a collision.Still, these measures do not solve the problem of what to do about space junk.In our modern world, we have become more and more dependent on satellites to help us with many things. Among these are communication systems, weather predictions, and navigation. The more we rely on advanced technology, the more likely it is that we will send additional satellites into space. It is not realistic to assume that the number of items launched into space will decrease.Scientists are working on solutions to deal with the problem. For example, Japan has designed a device that looks like a giant rope with a 444-pound weight attached to one end. The weight could swing around and basically knock debris out of orbit. Then it would burn up in earths atmosphere. Other ideas for debris removal have included harpoons, giant magnets, and nets that would capture the debris. Some solutions propose an end-of-life plan for future launches, in which the debris would be sent farther into space or destroyed.Because humans interest in exploring space continues to grow, there is little chance that the number of objects in space will decrease. However, as people become more aware of the problem of space junk, the same energy dedicated to exploring space must be directed toward creative ways of cleaning it up.Read this sentence from "Space Junk!"In our modern world, we have become more and more dependent on satellites to help us with many things.
