IS UNCHOOPPING a tree possible? What does the writer ask us to do indirectly

Answers

First and foremost, it should be very clear that unchopping a tree has never been possible. Although in the essay “Unchopping a Tree”, the writer has given us instructions for repairing a tree if it is cut down, both the writer and the readers know the fact that this task is impossible. So, we can say that this essay has been written in pseudo directive style. As it is clear that unchopping a tree is never possible, the essay has another message. The message is that if we cannot unchop a tree, it is better not to chop down trees. In other words, this essay indirectly suggests us we should preserve the environment.

Symbols help readers understand the larger themes of a story. One of the major themes of Joyce's "Araby" is the urge to escape the monotony of daily life. Which symbol in the story contributes most to this theme, and why? A. the bazaar because it represents the inaccessible land of freedom to the narrator B. Mangan's sister because she represents domesticity and routine to the narrator C. the marketplace because it represents the suburban lifestyle to the narrator D. the train ride because it represents freedom and renewal to the narrator

Answers

Answer:

A. The bazaar because it represents the inaccessible land of freedom to the narrator.

Explanation:

James Joyce's short story "Araby" revolves around a young boy infatuated with a girl who he promises to bring a gift from a marketplace called "Araby". The urge to win her heart by promising the gift led the young boy to the market, dealing with themes of innocence, real and imaginary, religion, and what is private and public.

The belief that all things are possible, even winning the affection of Mangan's sister led the young boy to leave for the market with good thoughts. But once he reached the market, he was unable to find anything that impresses him. The symbol that represents the theme of the monotony of daily life can be seen in the bazaar itself for it represents an escape from the monotonous life. The bazaar became an enticing escape, which was why the narrator was excited to go to. His expectation was so large, for he believes he'll find new things there, away from the dormant life he experiences everyday.

Thus, the correct answer is option A.

Answer:A. The bazaar because it represents the inaccessible land of freedom to the narrator.

btw search the story on google

Answers

Answer and explanation:

“The Street That Got Mislaid” written by Patrick Waddington is a short story that tells us about Marc Girondin, a city clerk that worked in a planning section at the city hall of Montreal. He was known by people for having a precise map of all the streets in town in his head. He was a peaceful man, minding his own business. One day he discovered a misplaced card of a street called Green Bottle street. It has been more than fifteen years since data about it has been updated. Now he was in dilemma should he notify his boss about it. But, first, he decided to go and visit the street. He found the place easily, on the way in, there was a wooden statue that contained the door. When he entered the street, cobble pavement, neat houses, and lovely gardens with flowers made him feel like he entered a fairytale. Girondin started a conversation with one of the tenants, madam Trusdale, who told him about the previous owner, who decided to bestow them all the houses once he`s dead, and how they were paying taxes until they realized that the town had forgotten about them. Madam Trusdale also told him about a little bit about each one of the tenants and how peacefully they were living. So, Marc Girondin finally asked what was in his mind all the time - to become a part of this little community and move in. As a sign that was his real intention, he tore up the card of the Green Bottle Street, which enabled living anonymously in this little piece of heaven for an unlimited amount of time.

Read the passage about the life of Cesar Chavez.

Cesar Chavez was born on March 31, 1927, near Yuma, Arizona. Chavez is best known for his use of nonviolent means to draw attention to the poor working conditions of farm workers in the United States. He also formed the National Farm Workers Association in 1962. In 1972, the National Farm Workers Association merged with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee to become the United Farm Workers. Chavez led marches, boycotts, and hunger strikes. It is believed that these hunger strikes may have contributed to his death on April 23, 1993.

Chavez dedicated his life to improving the lives of farm workers, a life with which he was very familiar. Until he was ten, his parents had owned a farm. They lost this farm during the Great Depression, and he and his family became migrant farm workers. Chavez had to work even harder after his father was injured in an automobile accident. He knew all too well about the poor pay and terrible working conditions withstood by farm workers. Chavez used nonviolent means to fight for the improved treatment, pay, and working conditions of farm workers. He was instrumental in organizing one such famous strike against the California grape growers in 1965, a battle that lasted for years. At one point, Chavez even called for a national boycott against the grape growers. His efforts over the years resulted in several victories for farm workers. After his death, Chavez was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Which fact would be best to include to help nominate Chavez for the "Most Dedicated” category?
A. Chavez believed in using nonviolent methods to achieve his goals.
B. Chavez worked most of his life to improve the lives of farm workers.
C. Chavez received the Presidential Medal of Freedom after his death.
D. Chavez understood the conditions that migrant farm workers faced.

Answers

The answer should be b, since he did work most of his life so the farmers life would be improved, but if I’m wrong I’m sorry
