In America the church has no power of the government and there is religious and people didn’t blindly believe the church like in ancient times. Since these civilizations were still developing and they didn’t know the things we know now diseases like the plague were spread and people since no one knew how to treat it thousands of people were killed. With modern technology we better understand how germs spread and are able to treat illnesses with vaccines and medicine.
