Read the poem “Storm,” by H.D.

You crash over the trees,
you crack the live branch? —
the branch is white,
the green crushed,
each leaf is rent like split wood.

You burden the trees
with black drops,
you swirl and crash? —
you have broken off a weighted leaf
in the wind,
it is hurled out,
whirls up and sinks,
a green stone.

Which best describes the author’s intent in this poem?
to describe the power of a storm that can pick up rocks
to describe the sounds of wind and rain during a storm
to describe the effects of a storm on a tree branch
to describe how the colors of a tree blend during a storm

Answer:

It's describe how storms make noise during relief rainfall

PART B: Which detail from the text best supports the answer to Part A? AVOID HIGH STUDENT DEBT AND DROPPING OUT BY ASKING THESE 4 QUESTIONS ABOUT ANY COLLEGE

Answers

Incomplete question. Assumed you are referring to the CommonLit article: Avoid high student debt and dropping out by  asking these 4 questions about any college  By Jake Murray  2018.

The remaining part read;

PART B: Which detail from the text best supports the answer to Part A?

A. “While the analysis found that 73 percent of those schools were for-profit  colleges, it also identified 209 private nonprofit and public colleges with low  completion rates and heavy borrowing.” (Paragraph 2)

B. “As a policy analyst who examines issues of quality and equity in higher education, I suggest four questions students should ask when exploring which  college to attend.” (Paragraph 3)

C. “Many higher education institutions have a mission to educate as many students  as possible — especially public and state systems — and thus have high  acceptance rates.” (Paragraph 4)

D. “While on average graduates will be $37,000 in debt, at some schools they can  expect to earn relatively low annual salaries — that is, somewhere between $30,000 and $40,000 — 10 years from when they first enrolled at their college.”  (Paragraph 12)

Answer:

B. “As a policy analyst who examines issues of quality and equity in higher education, I suggest four questions students should ask when exploring which college to attend.” (Paragraph 3)

Explanation:

It is important to remember that the answer to part was C: "When choosing a college to attend, it’s important for students to further explore  the education they’ll receive from the university and what it will cost them."

Hence, the author's statement, “As a policy analyst who examines issues of quality and equity in higher education, I suggest four questions students should ask when exploring which  college to attend,” supports the idea that students should explore the kind of education they'll receive, and the cost they will incur.

Option (B). Emphasizes the ambitious character of the immigrants he envisioned.

Is it good to be ambitious?

Ambition helps us reach our goals

And achieving them requires perseverance, perseverance and constant effort. In other words, there are many people who give up before the goal. But ambition provides an inner drive that helps you work towards your long-term goals and keep setting new ones after your initial success.

Is ambition a skill?

Ambition is strong desire to achieve something. It is the driving force that drives you to action and achieve your goals. This encourages you to wake up in the morning and work towards your dreams. It's also an important skill to show to potential employers on your resume.

Why do the ambitious people fail?

Either the ambitious don't give each project the focus it deserves, or old (and incomplete) projects are abandoned in favor of new ones. And while ambitious people work harder than anyone else, their ambition can cause more problems than anyone else if they're not focused.

Voluntourism: An Opportunity Too Good to be True

A Speech to the Student Body of Evergreen High

[1] Picture this: It's Spring Break, and you fly off to some country where there's lush rainforests and beautiful, blue coastlines to explore. There's also people in need, so you decide to blend your vacation with volunteering. Volunteering as a tourist, or voluntourism, seems like a great way to explore new regions and help people at the same time. However, this "volunteer plus travel" experience can actually harm local communities. While many teens might view traveling and volunteering abroad as a worthwhile adventure, there are more genuine and effective ways to make a difference.

[2] Most would agree that volunteering in general is a worthy use of time. However, what if you found out the children you are "helping" are actually being kept in poor conditions so voluntourists will spend money to come to the local area? Dale Rolfe, a supporter of ethical voluntourism, explains the shocking reality that "Animal sanctuaries and orphanages are often manufactured for the voluntourist…encouraging a cycle of exploiting the very animals and children the volunteers are trying to help."

[3] Proponents of the "volunteer plus travel" experience also argue that traveling to new places builds character and is a valuable way to learn about different cultures. With voluntourism, however, participants often pursue experiences that are all about them. For example, they sign up to build a school for a gold star on their resume, but they have no real building skills and take jobs away from local construction workers (Schulten). Or, they arrive to teach English but instead take selfies with the locals. One world traveler and ethical voluntourist believes voluntourism "can perpetuate small minded views of the world by taking insulated, fake, and structured experiences and selling them as unabridged and eye opening" (Carlos). The voluntour experience is a mirage. The voluntourist's eyes are not opened to real life at the destination, and lasting change is not achieved.

[4] If you want a genuine experience where you can see a lasting impact, there are better options than voluntourism. You can volunteer in your local community. Give an hour every week to your town's animal rescue. Serve monthly dinners to the homeless. Be a reliable, positive influence on a child who needs a mentor. Studies show that volunteering and forming lasting relationships with those you help has a positive impact on your physical and emotional health. In fact, blood pressure is reduced, memory is improved, and rates of depression are reduced (Michaels).

[5] There is another reason to look into alternatives to voluntourism. Did you know the average "voluntour" travel package costs $3,400 (Rolfe)? Could that travel money be better spent? If the world's citizens are your passion, it could go to an international organization. If you care about education, your funds can be used to buy books for students in faraway lands. If you want villagers to have clean water, contribute funds to local efforts to dig wells. If you want to experience a different culture, travel to the country as a guest, and learn from the locals how you can best help them after you've returned home. But do not voluntour.

[6] In reality, there are better ways to make a difference. Voluntourism might appear to be an adventure that blends travel and helping others, but it does little except provide a costly, superficial experience that might actually do more harm than good. So, volunteer where you are most needed-at home, where you can stay to see the job through and form genuine, lasting relationships. Choose a beautiful coastline closer to home and send the travel money you saved to an international organization that will put it to good use. Whatever you do, don't turn someone else's hardship into your vacation.

bad effect of using mobile phone paragraph writing 100 to 150 words

Answers

Mobile phone is a very useful and essential gadget in our daily life. When used in moderation does not cause much harm. It is only when people use it unnecessarily and excessively, it leads to troubles. Talking over mobile phones for several minutes to hours over useless and insignificant topics is simply a waste of time.
It is one of the commonest abuses of this technological gadget. Doctors keep cautioning people that excessive and continuous use of phones is damaging for the health of a person. The rays that emit from these phones can lead to hearing problems and can impact other organs too over a prolonged period of excessive usage.
Another common abuse includes listening to high volume music. This is especially seen among teenagers who have a tendency to keep their phone in their pockets and put ear phones in their ears. This is a very common sight among people. They walk or drive on busy roads, or listen to high volume music. This makes them incapable to listen to the horn of an approaching vehicle. By not taking timely action it causes casualties. A lot of injuries happen in this way on a day to day basis.
Mobile phones can be very annoying sometimes. Its multipurpose use, and easy accessibility to internet has created problems related to user’s privacy. Nowadays, it has become mandatory to enter the phone number in every form or a new facility that we wish to take. Due to which people get annoyed by unwanted and unnecessary marketing calls that aims to sell their product. People get disturbed taking calls from marketing executives, insurance agents, etc. to buy their product, avail loan etc. who are not keen in any of these services.
